El Camino’s beach volleyball team has finished the first week of its season 3-0 against community-college squads, after beating conference-opponent Ventura College on Saturday.
El Camino is now 3-0 on the season and 1-0 in the Western State Conference while Ventura falls to 0-2 in the WSC.
“It was nice to play at another site,” EC head coach Le Valley Pattison said. “”The sand was quite a bit deeper then (ECs) home courts, (but it’s a) good learning experience. We definitely have things to work on, but a conference win is a great way to start the season.”
The Warriors will host Golden West and San Diego Mesa colleges on Wednesday, March 9 beginning at 1 p.m. at the El Camino Sand Courts.
The team did suffer a 5-0 loss against California State Northridge earlier in the day, but as it is a scrimmage, it does not affect the team’s record.
UPDATE: March 8, 12:38 p.m. The scrimmage against Northridge does not count toward the team’s record and the team is still undefeated.
