The defending conference champions opened the 2016 season with a 7-4 win over L.A. Valley College Wednesday.
Freshman infielder Tyler Richter hit a two-run home run and will be a key newcomer on a team that fields 16 freshman.
Coach Jessica Rapoza said she thought her team played well considering it was their first collegiate game.
“We have quite a few things to work on and need to get better every game but I felt happy about the win and the fact that our team worked through some miscues and obstacles with maturity,” Rapoza said. “I was excited about our contact offensively and our energy.”
Up next for the Warriors is a road game versus Saddleback College Friday at 2 p.m.
