Track and Field teams compete at invitational

Over the break the Men’s and Women’s track and field  team continued their success at the Mt. Sac Relays JC Invitational on Saturday.

Rukayah Bent- Mikail  from the women’s team, remained undefeated against JC competitors in the Triple Jump. She jumped a 38-10 ½ for the win in the event.

Michelle Woodruff jumped a state leading 5-7 last weekend and a 5-4 ¼ to win in her event.

“I did pretty well considering that I barely practiced during the spring break, even though it was far below my person best am still satisfied because I won the meet”. Michelle Woodruff, high jumper said.

Katrina Wilbanks tied for 2nd in the Pole Vault at 11-4 ¼ . Ronisha Vallery had a time of 25.21 in the 200m and a 12.61 in the 100m.  She helped the Warriors win the 400m relay win with a time  of 47.28  Ronisha and Ruykayah are currently No.1 and No.2 in the state for the Long Jump. Karlie  Castro- Kahn ran a time of 67.91 in the hurdles.

“I like seeing improvement  and watching them improve” coach Dean Lofgren said.

After leading the competition until the final round, Victor Martin placed second with a solid 49-7 ¾ throw in shot put. Anthony placed second with 5,000m and had a personal best time of  15:12.29. David Rosales placed third  with 5,000m and ran a personal best  time of 15.25.67

Next week the track and field team will be competing at the Cal State Long Beach invitational on Saturday April 21.
