The softball team had new found energy as they went head to head against L.A. Valley College. The Warriors bounced back after two-game losing streak and defeated the Monarchs 3-0.
“We were trying to come out with a certain demeanor that obviously wasn’t working so we lightened it up today and we just tried to have fun and just play our game,” sophomore catcher Gabby Fordiani said.
The Warriors took over the game early scoring three runs in the second inning. Sophomore infielder Kathy Orozco had one RBI, and freshman pitcher Sierra Gabriel had an impressive time on the mound as she earned four strikeouts.
“My strategy was just to throw strikes cause I knew my defense would have my back,” Gabriel said. “So I knew as long as I threw strikes we’d get outs because our defense was strong.”
The Warriors overall record is 27-9 and 11-3 at home. Their next match is an away game against Cerritos College on April 14 at 3 p.m.
“Sierra did a really great job of throwing strikes so that helps out a lot and we just knew to stay simple and not over think everything,” sophomore shortstop Tori Garcia said.
