Collage, origami, lettering, textiles, pin-back buttons, and papier-mâché are some of the workshops available in the Art Gallery this semester.
The workshops are free and open to both students and the public.
“Other than screen printing, most of these are on a walk-in basis so long as the person leading it is here,” Carrie Lockwood, 62, Art Gallery associate, said.
The screen-printing workshop requires a two-day commitment and is limited to four participants at a time.
Certain workshops–including 3-D printing, embroidery, graphic design, and drawing–have been put on hold to not overstep certain classes on campus, Lockwood said.
Federal student workers and ECC staff host the workshops, which have been offered at the gallery since 2023.
Students in the federal work-study program and with art backgrounds are eligible to host workshops.
“What’s in rotation and what’s not in rotation is based on our federal student workers, we take whatever is their art background and have them teach a workshop,” Lockwood said.
In addition to art workshops, other free recreational activities are available at the Art Gallery.
