Sophomore second baseman Joseph Cortez hit a triple that brought in sophomore left-fielder Alex Turner.

The run gave the Warriors’ baseball team early momentum and a 1-0 lead in the first inning against East Los Angeles.

The Warriors traveled to East Los Angeles on Thursday to play the Huskies on their home turf. El Camino defeated them 10-4, according to CCCAA stats.

The Warriors followed up the first inning with two runs in the top of the third inning which increased their lead to 3-0.

The Huskies finally answered back in the bottom of the fifth inning with three runs that tied the game.

However, the Warriors did not sit on this tied game and earned four runs in the top of the sixth inning that gave them a late 7-3 lead over the Huskies.

The runs did not stop there for EC. Three Warrior runs earned in the top of the seventh inning really sealed the game up at 10-3.

The Huskies attempted a late comeback in the bottom of the ninth, but fell very short, only earning one run and ending the game at 10-4.

Both teams had a big day at the plate. The Warriors recorded 12 hits and the Huskies recorded 10. The biggest hitter on the day for EC was second baseman Joseph Cortez, who recorded a perfect four hits from four at-bats.

The Warriors improved their record to 23-12, and their conference record to 11-9. EC hosts East Los Angeles for the final game of the regular season on Friday, April 24.
