El Camino men’s soccer fell, 3-1, to Taft College in a non-conference match on Wednesday, according to cccaasports.org.
EC took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal by freshman forward Victor Hernandez. Taft answered with goals by Gustavo Campos and Colby Evans, for a 2-1 lead.
Taft midfielder Danny Ortiz scored the final first half goal for a 3-1 lead over the Warriors going into halftime.
“We played a good tactical game,” Assistant Coach Ever Morataya said. “Unfortunately we made too many mental mistakes.”
Both teams went scoreless in the second half. The Warriors fall to 1-5 on the season.
“We have to match up intensity in the next match,” Morotaya said. “The hope is to win conference. ”
The Warriors are back in action against San Bernandino Valley College on Sept. 25, at 4 p.m.
