The former student accused of threatening to kill a professor was given a new preliminary hearing date on May 2, during his March 15 court appearance.
Dashiell Porter, the 28-year-old former El Camino theater major, is accused of making multiple threats against EC English professor Cynthia Somin via Facebook in response to a poor grade she gave him in the class.
Porter and his attorney asked for an extension on the hearing that was originally scheduled for March 15.
“The defense needed more time to prepare their case,” Deputy District Attorney Alexander Bott said, concerning the briefness of the trial.
Porter was released on a $350,000 bail on March 3 and his next hearing will be on May 2 at 8:30 a.m.
