A former El Camino men’s basketball coach, who led the team to three state championships, died on Monday, Aug. 22 at the age of 72, the Dean of Athletics said.
Paul Landreaux was hired as head coach in 1979, and won the state title in 1981, 1985 and 1987 along with nine conference championships in his two coaching stints spanning over 20 years with the school.
“I think he’s well respected by all the people on this campus with the feedback we’ve been given,” Dean of Athletics Rory Natividad said. The two worked together up until Landreaux’s retirement in 2007.
A funeral service is scheduled for Landreaux on Wednesday, August 31 in Culver City, CA.
