The conference individual pairs tournament is over and the El Camino beach volleyball team had four of its starting five pairs advance to the state tournament, with one of the pairs being crowned the champion.
- No. 7 seed Nickeisha Williams and Michelle Shimamoto are crowned the champions.
- No. 13 Brooke Russell and Taylor Brydon take second place after losing in finals to Williams/Shimamoto
- No. 1 Laynie Thompson and Sadie Fraker finish in the semifinals after losing to the Russell/Brydon pair.
- No. 25 Brooklyn Rubio and Jewel Yandall qualify after making it to the quarterfinals but losing to the Thompson/Fraker duo.
But the next thing on the Warriors’ minds is Tuesday regional team match-ups against Golden West College and San Diego Mesa College, EC coach Le Valley Pattison said.
GWC finished as the No. 2 seed in the Orange Empire Conference, while Mesa finished as the No. 3 in the Pacific Coast Conference.
When: Tuesday, May 3 beginning at 1 p.m. EC plays GWC, then GWC plays Mesa and finally, EC plays Mesa.
