The El Camino baseball team (23-9, 12-5 SCC) gave up double digit runs for just the second time all year on Thursday, losing to Cerritos College, 11-5.
The Warriors’ starting pitcher Sebastian Sanchez pitched seven innings, giving up nine runs while slowing five earned runs on 11 hits.
“Sanchez pitched decent for the most part,” freshman catcher Connor Underwood said. “Aside from Cerritos sitting back on a couple pitches that they took deep. We should have made some plays behind him on defense that could have prevented those big innings for them.”
Offensively, the Warriors put up two runs in the first inning but were unable to put together any big innings.
“On offense we could have taken some better at bats with runners in scoring position.” Underwood said.
The final game of the series between the two teams is at El Camino on Saturday at noon.
