El Camino College Warriors competed in various track and field events at conference preliminaries Tuesday, April 22, at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Warriors athlete Tilliana Wakefield-Carl grabbed the championship for pole vault at the South Coast Conference Prelims.
She is the first woman to win the event since 2012.
Warriors men’s track and field competed in 10 events throughout the day with some good results.
Aaron Cohen finished third for the Warriors with a time of 32:58:63 in the Men’s 10,000 meter race.
In the men’s decathlon, Warriors athlete Gunner Perez placed second with a total of 5,989 points.
Athletes competed to advance to the next phase, the South Coast Conference Championships, held Saturday, April 26 at Long Beach City College.
