As the sun set on the evening of Good Friday, digs, spikes, and serves were delivered by the El Camino College Warriors and the Fullerton College Hornets as they competed for the win in a men’s volleyball match.
After a first set win of 25-18 for the Hornets, the Warriors had the potential to break even in the next round.
However, the Warriors ended up losing 3-0 to the Hornets.
This puts the Warriors at an overall score of 5-15 for the season so far, with 2-7 wins at home and 3-8 wins away.
Warriors coach Tyler Sompa echoed thoughts of positivity and reassurance to his team, reminding them of their skills.
“You’ve been hitting high and hard this whole time…we just got to stick to it,” Sompa said.
Saman Bagheri, a libero from Fullerton, commented on his points of improvement during the game.
“My receive should be better,” Bagheri said.
Hornets coach Raymond Barsemian discussed a general strategy for the game.
“Put the ball in, then block and dig,” Barsemian said.
The Hornets’ overall score for the season is 13-7, with 7-2 home wins and 6-5 away wins.
The Hornets have been drilling blocks and digs during practices,
“It fires our team up,” Barsemian said.
