A leadoff home run from freshman left fielder Taylor Richter in the bottom of the fifth inning helped propel the home team past the Lancers to seize the season series win.
The El Camino College softball team (24-12, 13-6) defeated the Pasadena City College Lancers (20-17, 9-10), 7-2, on Tuesday.
“We had a couple of physical errors at the start,” Warriors’ coach Jessica Rapoza said. “(But) I was proud of them because physical errors are always going to happen, but if we can limit the mental errors then things always end up OK.”
Freshman Natalie Francis earned her 14th win on the season, tossing a complete game, allowing seven hits and one earned run. The victory moved Francis to second in wins for the South Coast Conference and put her in a three-way tie for first with eight conference game wins on the season.
El Camino had nine hits in 27 at-bats, while the Lancers finished with seven in 28 at-bats.
The Warriors will travel to play the first place SCC team, Mt. San Antonio College (32-4, 17-2), tomorrow at 3 p.m.
