The final piece of this series highlights the No. 1 team for El Camino beach volleyball.

After not reaching the state singles tournament last year, the former No. 2 beach volleyball team has been promoted and is looking for some success.

Laynie Thompson and Sadie Fraker, both sophomores, are the only returners to have the same partners under El Camino coach Le Valley Pattison.

The members of the pair are both co-captains of the team and are now the No. 1 team headed into the season.

“We like a challenge, and we like depending on each other,” Fraker said of her partner.

Thompson added that she is excited to be No. 1.

“It’s a big position to fill, but it should be fun,” she said. “Being able to lead the team is going to be really cool.”
