This year’s graduation Commencement Speaker was announced during the last Associated Student Organization meeting, by the advisor Gregory Toya.
Toya made an announcement that former El Camino football and NFL player Derrick Deese will be the speaker for graduation.
“I think he is a great choice to be the Commencement Speaker. He is a great example on how to be succesful not just in the field but in life as well,” Joseph Taylor, Senator of Industry and Technology, said.
The Senate also voted to make a change in the amendment concerning conditions on running for president of ASO.
A vote was passed to rescind a change that a person has to be an executive member for one semester before they can run for ASO president.
ASO day was also discussed in the meeting. Near the end of the semester, there will be elections to appoint a new president and other important positions in the cabinet.
The next ASO meeting will be March 10 in the Alondra Room at 1 p.m.
