The board of trustees had its first meeting Wednesday with president Dena Maloney and the main topic discussed was the “Lot C parking structure project.”

“This project for Lot C parking structure is estimated to cost $20 million,” vice president of board of trustees, John Vargas said. “Yet there’s not enough information on the packet for us.”
Jo Ann Higdon, vice president of administrative services, pulled out a thick book with about 1,000 pages explaining the contract for the parking structure and said unfortunately there is not a digital copy of it.
This took up most of the time during the meeting, but another topic that was talked about was the Title IX and the sexual and gender based misconduct.
“Faculty and administrators have a responsibility to report to the Title IX office any incident students report to them, and they will be held responsible,” Jaynie Ishikawa, Title IX coordinator, said.
As of now, the Title IX office is working on a way to train all students and faculty on what to do in case an incident of sexual harassment or abuse happens.
The next board of trustees meeting will be March 21 at 4 p.m. in the Board Room.
