Every spring candidates for ASO positions apply to become part of the next two semester’s cabinet, Jade Gorum, 21, sociology major and member of ASO said.
In recent years there were quite heated debates for positions, Lawrence Moreno, ASB coordinator, said.
“It’s different from year to year,” Moreno said. “This year is pretty slow, some positions don’t have candidates at all.”
Because of the cutting of winter, classes for spring start earlier, and graduation is now mid-May instead of mid-June.
“But I believe the elimination of the winter session has a lot to do with the the slow turn out this year,” Moreno said.
Anjeannette Aguilar, 19, communication studies major, is running for the director of human resources position talked about the application process.
“You go to the office where students can pick up an application,” she said. “They will call, text or email you to come in for an interview.”
The current president, vice president and either the adviser or human resources director will interview and check to see if they are qualified, Aguilar said.
You must have a 2.0 GPA or above and a valid ASB sticker, she added.
