The trial for the student accused of threatening to massacre the school was supposed to begin at 10:30 a.m. on April 6, Judge Eric C. Taylor said in an earlier court date.
James Lemus appeared in court for no more than five minutes as defense attorney, Jonathan Cruz, requested a report to prolong the trial.
The courtroom audience was almost empty, apart from a couple of observers in the room and his mother, Maria Lemus.
Cruz wanted to get a psychological evaluation for Lemus.
“I am supposed to receive the report by the 19th,” Cruz said.
Taylor was OK with giving the trial more time with the report, but was adamant in keeping a set schedule.
“We will make April 29 the zero of 20 date to come back,” Taylor said. “As long as the 10 of 10 afterward is May 28.”
