Crowds of students surround the dozens of tables aligned in front of the Schauerman Library, as members promote and sign-up students to their clubs.
Brianne Coleman, cheer flyer, said that Club Rush is a great time to get involved with the campus community.
“You get to know other students. Some people meet some of their best friends in college,” Coleman said. “The cheer squad hasn’t known each other for that long but we are all so close.”
Chess Club president, Chris Lee, 21, English major, said the Chess Club encourages students to think logically and expand their minds.
“Our club is about all types of chess- international chess, Indian chess and any other type that is out there,” Lee said.
Lee also added that students should care about Club Rush because they should immerse themselves in their college.
“Joining clubs is creating a community and people should give back to their campus,” he said. “It’s important to not only come here to get your classes done but to get involved with your campus.”
The Gay-Straight Alliance Club was also in attendance and signing up as many members as possible.
“Our goal is to come together as a group,” Amonique-Marie Branch, 21, journalism major, said. “During Club Rush, we give out information, we inform students on what we do for the community. We have events that we attend like the Long Beach Pride Parade.”
Michelle Avita, 21, English Literature major, said this is the event to promote the club and get new members.
Club rush will take place until Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
