The El Camino News Broadcasting Club will host two local reporters Friday in the Student Activities Center at 9 a.m., club President Jair Miranda said.
Beto Duran, former ESPN 710 LA radio reporter, and current blow-by-blow broadcaster for Golden Boy Promotions, will be one of the two guests.
Duran attended EC before transferring to Cal State Dominguez Hills.
He has covered the Dodgers, Lakers, USC and other major sporting events throughout his journalism career.
Broadcast Club member Jonathan Ortiz said Duran is very accessible.
“I’ve been in contact with him since high school,” Ortiz said. “I can ask him questions and he will reply with a detailed answer. He is very encouraging.”
The other guest speaker is Jaime Maggio, a University of California Santa Barbara graduate and host for the Lakers on Spectrum SportsNet.
Maggio has worked for TNT, KCAL and Fox Sports and has won several emmys for her work.
Both Duran and Maggio will share their personal stories and answer questions about their career as professionals during a “Tips for Journalist” seminar.
