El Camino’s beach volleyball team is unstoppable, and after dominating conference opponents Ventura and Rio Hondo colleges today, it has a lot to look forward to heading into playoffs.

Ventura’s No. 2 pair gave a little bit of a push taking sophomores Nickeisha Williams and Michelle Shimamoto to three sets, but the rest of the pairs played slightly less able and were routed in two sets.

Here are the match scores for the game vs. Ventura College:

  • No. 5 pair of Brooklyn Rubio and Jewel Yandall has their way with the opponents and wins 21-9 and 21-9.
  • No. 4 pair of Jessica Dow and Victoria Curtice put their feet down in a 21-12 and 21-17 win.
  • No. 3 pair of Brooke Russell and Taylor Brydon rebounded from Wednesday’s loss with a 21-17 and 21-8 win.
  • No. 2 pair of Michelle Shimamoto and Nickeisha Williams were taken to full sets, but closed out a 21-14, 17-21 and 15-11 win.
  • While the No. 1 pair of Laynie Thompson and Sadie Fraker overcame a seven-point deficit in set one and a four-point deficit in set two to win the match 26-24 and 21-19.

Unfortunately, for Rio Hondo College, the Roadrunners were put away with ease, sophomore Jewel Yandall thought the visitors played harder than the first match-up.

“(Rio Hondo) was more of a competition,’ Yandall said. “They were a three (on a scale of one to 10 today).”

Here are the match scores for the game vs. Rio Hondo College:

  • No.5 pair: Rubio and Yandall plow through the Roadrunners and win in two (21-7 and 21-11).
  • No. 4 pair: Curtice and Dow wouldn’t be outdone and pummeled the visitors 21-4 and 21-10.
  • No. 3 pair: Russell and Brydon had an incredible game and didn’t allow the opposing pair to get double digits (21-4 and 21-5), with the two sets added up.
  • No. 2 pair: Williams and Shimamoto had a tougher match, but still took down the visitors 21-17 and 21-12.
  • No. 1 pair: Fraker and Thompson had a clean-up match to put the Warriors over the Roadrunners 5-0, with their win.
