Last Saturday, the EC track team went to compete in the Cal State L.A. invitational and expectations were high.
The Warriors competed not only against junior colleges but four-year universities such as USC, Cal Poly Pomona, Loyola Marymount and other Cal States.
The biggest star of EC was freshmen pole vaulter phenom Sara Curran who finished second after just losing to an All-American senior pole-vaulter. Curran has placed in the top two, four times this season and has a strong chance of placing in state.
Sophomore sprinter Daniel York-Mouton was the first winner of the day on Saturday as he earned second place in the men’s 400 meter dash.
Sophomore runner Teddy Kassa continued to run hard as he finished fourth in the men’s 3000 meter dash. Kassa had the fastest time for a junior college runner at the event.
Both men’s and women’s 4×400 relay teams secured third place and secured the only top-three finishes for the EC relay teams.
Freshman thrower Jessica Bulgarelli placed second in women’s shot put with only one throw as she scratched her next three throws.
