The Warriors traveled to the Orange Coast and Cuyamaca College tri-meet. They established dominance early in the season as they won medals across the board in both men’s and women’s events.
Freshman Victoria Shanks-Porter was all business as she won gold in both the womens’ 200-meter and 400-meter dashes.
Freshmen Hannah Griffie took the gold in the 800 dash as she continued to rack up her medal count early in the season.
The women’s’ relay teams dominated the competition by taking gold both in the 4×100 and the 4×400 dashes. Freshman Kimberly Markley had a day to remember as she also took gold in the 100 dash, long jump, and triple jump.
Taking back-to-back gold medals in pole vault two weeks in row was Curren showing the conference who’s on top.
Sophomore thrower Cambria Serrano placed top three in shot put, discus, and javelin.
The men’s 4×100 and 4×400 meter dash relay team also matched the women’s two gold medals with two of their own on Friday that completed the sweep for both men’s and women’s relay teams.
Freshman sprinter Chris Park took the bronze in the men’s 100 dash and gold in the 200 dash. While sophomore William Ingram in winning fashion took the gold in the men’s 400 dash and bronze in the men’s high jump.
Former West High runners and now current teammates Teddy Kassa and Michael Nakahara continue to run hard, Kassa took home gold in the 3000 dash while Nakahara took silver in the 1500 dash.
Sophomores Blaize Ali-Watkins and Khalil Flemister continue to amaze as they both got silver in the men’s long jump and triple jump.
The mens throws team got on the board because of freshmen Kevin Hughley and Kevin Hienemann with Hughley taking the gold in shot put and Hienemann taking silver in javelin.
The Warriors had a strong outing Friday in Orange County and they will look to continue stacking their medal count come Saturday.
