One word can describe the Warriors season so far and it’s zero. The Warriors have yet to lose a game all season and the rankings seem to agree as they are currently ranked #1 in California.

They took their 4-0 record on the road to San Diego to play in the San Diego Mesa Tournament this past weekend. The team came out untouched winning all four games they played.

“We did great this weekend. The team played well and is slowly and steadily improving,” coach LeValley said.

The Warriors were once again led by sophomore libero Kiley Tamblyn as she was named MVP of the tournament. Kiley leads by example with her energy and great play.

“We haven’t lost yet but we still have a lot to work on. This tourney pointed out what we really need to work on this season,” Tamblyn said.

Sarah Prather and Deja Dickerson also had a great weekend on the court as they were named to the all tournament team.

El Camino took on San Bernardino in the first game and won 25-13, 25-19, and 25-10. Things would not go as smoothly as they took on Long Beach in the second game.

The Warriors lost the first set 18-25 and would come back with authority to win the next three sets in dominating fashion by scores of 25-15, 25-10, and 25-18.

The third game was definitely the closest game of the tournament for the Warriors as they faced Cypress in the semi-finals. This was a rematch of the EC classic a week ago and it was a nail biter.

The Warriors took the first set 25-20, but lost the next set 23-25. With the game tied at one set apiece the Warriors stepped up their game and won big 25-14. The final set would prove to be a tight one. The Warriors squeaked by Cypress to win the game 26-24.

“It took the whole team to win I just do my little part hoping everyone else will do theirs because it takes six ladies to win the game,” Tamblyn said.

EC played Moorpark in the finals and came out victorious. The Warriors came out flat in the first set and was down early 12-2. EC claws back to win 29-27 and would roll through the next two sets 25-17, 25-17 to capture the championship with a score of 25-14.

“We played well and we still have things to get better at, but we are playing well together right now,” Sarah Prather said.

The Warriors have an action packed week ahead of them, as they will play two games at home Sept. 23 and 24 against Los Angeles City and Mt. San Antonio. Then they will hit the road to take on Ventura and Los Angeles Trade Tech on Sept. 25.

This week will show a lot about the Warriors, as they will have to tough out four games in three days. This week will show what the Warriors are made of.
