Police Beat Aug. 1 – Aug. 10
Aug. 1, 11:15 p.m. Officers responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle in the 3800 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard.
Aug. 2, 12:41 p.m. Officers responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle in Lot F.
Aug. 3, 3:52 a.m. Officers responded to a call for a suspicious vehicle that was unoccupied in the 3400 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard.
Aug. 3, 7:08 a.m. According to the report, officers responded to the south side of the Library for a medical aid call. A custodian was complaining of chest pains. Officers called for paramedics, and the custodian was transported to an area hospital. A report was taken.
Aug. 3, 7:51 a.m. According to the report, an officer responded to the Facilities department for found property. A facilities staff member found an envelope containing $56 while cleaning out a room in the Technical Arts building. The money was placed into the property room for safe keeping. A report was taken.
Aug. 4, 10:18 a.m. An officer stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 16800 block of Crenshaw Boulevard. According to the report, the driver who is not a student, did not have a valid drivers license. The officer issued the woman who was driving the vehicle a citation and let the passenger who had a valid drivers license take control. A report was taken.
Aug. 4, 11:03 a.m. According to the report, an officer responded to the station for a medical aid. A staff member stated that he was driving his golf cart between the Natural Science building and the Planetarium when he avoided colliding with a bicycle. The staff member said that a woman on a bike suddenly rode in front of him, and caused him to make a sharp left turn to avoid a collision. The staff member fell out of the cart, but was not injured. The woman on the bike left after making sure he was OK. A report was taken.
Aug. 4, 10:24 p.m. Officers responded to the North PE building for suspicious circumstances. Officers were not able to locate anybody in the area.
Aug. 5, 7:31 a.m. According to the report, an officer responded to the Humanities building to follow up on an email that an instructor sent to her dean regarding a problem she had with one of her students. The instructor told the officer that the problem was minor and that she wanted an officer to walk the hallway during her class as a precaution. No crime or student code of conduct was violated by the student. A report was taken.
Aug. 5, 10:50 a.m. Officers responded to the Financial Aid office in the Administration building for a disturbance call.
Aug. 6, 8:31 p.m. Officers responded to the Maintenance Yard for narcotics activity.
Aug. 6, 8:55 p.m. Officers responded to the athletic field for a disturbance call.
Aug. 7, 1:55 p.m. Officers responded to the Industry and Technology building for a man with a weapon. Officers did not make an arrest, but filled out a field identification card for the man.
Aug. 8, 3:12 p.m. Officers responded to the Industry and Technology building for a disturbance call.
Aug. 10, 3:25 p.m. Officers responded to the Communications building for a indecent exposure. Officers secured the building. A report was taken.
Aug. 10, 4:20 p.m. Officers responded to the Administration building for a disturbance call.
Aug. 10 9:33 p.m. Officers responded to the North Gym for a vandalism report. A report was taken.
