Police Beat July 11 – July 15
July 11, 4:15 p.m. According to the report, officers observed a man and woman sitting on the stairs in Lot F. The officers observed a bottle of whisky on the stairs by the man and woman. When officers made contact, the man gave officers a false name. The woman was in possession of methamphetamine. The woman was issued a citation for possession of methamphetamine. The man was issued a citation for giving false information to a peace officer. Both were released after being cited. A report was taken.
July 12, 3:56 a.m. An officer stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 16400 block of Crenshaw Boulevard. According to the report, the female driver, who is not a student had a suspended drivers license. The officer cited the woman for driving with a suspended license and had her passenger take control of the vehicle. A report was taken.
July 12, 12:44 p.m. An officer responded to the North Gym for a medical aid call. According to the report, a male non-student was participating in a basketball tournament when he was accidentally knocked down and hit his head on the floor. Paramedics were called, but the patient’s father declined to have his son transported to a hospital. The father said he would monitor his son’s condition. A report was taken.
July 12, 6:46 p.m. According to the report, an officer responded to the North Gym for a medical aid call. A male non-student was participating in a basketball tournament when he twisted his right ankle. Paramedics were called, and transported the patient to an area hospital. A report was taken.
July 13, 8:26 a.m. An officer responded to the Health Center for a medical aid call. According to the report, a female student was having a difficult time breathing. Paramedics were called and transported the student to an area hospital. A report was taken.
July 13, 6:04 p.m. According to the report, officers responded to the third level of Lot H for a suspicious circumstances call. A police cadet observed two male students sitting inside a parked vehicle and playing with appeared to be a BB gun. Officers made contact with the two occupants in the vehicle. One of the students told the officers that he was trying to clear the BB’s, but gave up and put it in the back seat of the car. Officers confiscated the gun for safe keeping. Both of the students will be referred to the Director of Student Development. A report was taken.
July 15, 12:30 p.m. An officer responded to the hallway near the Life Sciences Division Office for a vandalism call. According to the report, a staff member told officers that she was working inside one of the labs when she heard a loud banging noise in the hallway. The staff member observed the glass AED metal case cracked. She also observed a “transient looking” man talking to himself in the hallway carrying a white towel. She told officers that the man was last seen walking out of the north exit doors. Officers made an area check, but were unable to locate anyone matching the description. A report was taken.
