The virtual site visit portion of the accreditation process for El Camino college ended with an exit meeting on Oct.1.
Accreditation has a central role in determining the legitimacy of a student’s credentials by measuring educational and institutional quality of the college they attend, according to ECC’s accreditation guide.
ECC is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC).
During the exit meeting, Whitney Yamamura, peer review team leader and president of Folsom Lake College, applauded ECC for its range of student support programs and strong student governance.
He also highlighted ECC’s quick transition to online learning, Professional Development & Learning, and the People, Respect, Integrity, Diversity, and Excellence (PRIDE) program, which recognizes employees who reflect ECC’s core values.
The ACCJC peer review team will release a full report of their findings at ECC 30 days after their final January meeting.
