When the alert goes off at 10:15 a.m. this Thursday, millions of participants along with El Camino’s staff, faculty, and students, will drop, cover, and hold on during the Great California Shakeout Drill, according to a press release sent out by the college.
“When the notice is given, an evacuation will begin in an orderly manner to each building’s designated assembly area and a building captain will give out directions during the drill,” according to the press release.
Participation of the earthquake drill will be spanning all 58 counties in the state of California.
Last year, millions of Californians participated in this large-scale earthquake preparedness drill, and even more participants are expected for this year.
“This ShakeOut drill is a great opportunity to practice safety procedures in case of an earthquake,” according to the press release. “It better prepares families and the local cities to prepare and recover quickly from earthquakes – wherever you live, work, or travel.”
