Anthropology Club has big semester plans

All cultures unite at the Anthropology Club on campus this semester. The Anthropology Club invites all students, regardless of their majors and meets every Thursday in the Art and Behavioral Sciences Building, Room 338 from 1:00 to 1:50 p.m. The club has been on campus promoting anthropology for a long time and the members include students from different backgrounds and majors.

“As a history major, I wanted to learn about cultures of the world and how they relate to history,” Dakota Bloom, 19, history major, said.

The club often takes trips to the local zoos and has speakers from different anthropological fields visit campus to give presentations.

John McDermott, anthropology professor, will speak about his research in the Mojave Desert, from 1 to 2 p.m., tomorrow in the Art and Behaviorial Sciences Building Room 334. He will also have a question and answer session afterward.

This Saturday, the Anthropology Club will be participating in the First Saturday Curation Day at the John Cooper Center in Santa Ana from 9 a.m to 3p.m. The members will be helping to assist with the curation of Orange County’s Archaeology collections.

There is no experience necessary and everyone is welcome. For more information about the event and to reserve a spot contact Elizabeth Sutton, Associate Curator at [email protected] or 714-647-2111.

“I joined the club to learn about possible careers and to meet new people,” Carrza Lewis, 23, anthropology major, said.
