Although “Megamind” is a nonsensical film about the silly identity crisis of a sadistic villain, it”s is one of the best-looking superhero movies I”ve ever seen.

It”s an understatement to say that this movie looks incredible. This film packs in everything from a laser light show to some frightening apocalyptic moments, where the city is on fire. There”s even a giant robot battle, where Megamind uses his machine to try and fight a superhero.

Moviegoers will definitely get their money”s worth when they see all the amazing explosions, collapsing buildings and various other massive special effects.

The story, on the other hand, is pretty simple for a superhero film. “Megamind” opens as a typical rivalry between a Superman look-alike and a blue genius who looks like Lex Luther. The evil villain, Megamind, quickly escapes from prison to hatch his newest plan to defeat Metroman.

The only problem is that Megamind actually kills his nemesis in the most unspectacular fashion imaginable. Days after a satellite zaps the hero in a copper observatory with a death ray, Megamind goes through an identity crisis and longs for the days when he was battling Metroman. Megamind then brainstorms the insane plan to make someone into a superhero, so that he can continue fighting as a villain.

This film is unbelievably funny. Although it plays out more like a superhero sitcom, the voice actors pull off great performances that will tickle anyone”s funny bone.

Will Farrell is especially spectacular at adding whimsical humor to Megamind”s sadistic tendencies. For example, his character breaks down in goofy tears of sadness before blowing up the museum of his arch-nemesis.

The gizmos and gadgets in the film also play a key role in this comedy. Megamind uses a metal watch to transform into anyone he wants. With this watch, he can pull off plenty of crazy, improbable metamorphoses. My favorite moment was when he turned into a godfather character with a granny wig, who gives advice to the superhero he created.

Best of all, “Megamind” packs in some of the most incredible visuals I”ve ever seen in an animated film. The characters pull off some pretty intense stunts. Many of the coolest-looking scenes involved characters flying over incoming cars and traffic in slow motion.

The cinematographers also pick some awesome camera angles during the slow-motion fight sequences. There are many scenes that look great with 3D glasses on, where characters are flying into the camera.

The best shot takes place in the opening scene where Megamind is falling through the sky in slow motion. This is the part that really sucks people in, making people ask why this blue, bald character is falling thousands of feet to his own death.

Keep in mind, however, that it often moves faster than most people can handle. Dreamworks” animated characters tend to move with the speed of an adrenaline rush, so people will often stay breathless throughout most of the action sequences.

With all that said, the story isn”t especially deep. “Megamind” is often filled with long fight sequences where the main character really could have ended the entire fight by just using his ray gun. Most of the film is chock-full of eye candy, with very little intellectual value in the long run.

Despite its flaws, “Megamind” is one of the more exciting animated films to come out in the last few years. Even if the story is somewhat one-dimensional for an action movie, it still looks and sounds amazing.
