A new case of COVID-19 on the El Camino Campus was revealed in a COVID-19 Task Force update on May 18, raising the number of COVID-19 cases on campus to 38.
According to the update, the ECC received the report of the recent COVID-19 case on May 14, with the campus community member testing positive on May 7.
According to the update, the individual was last seen on campus May 3, but had no close contact with anyone on campus and did not enter any buildings or bathrooms. It is unknown whether or not the individual was vaccinated.
The last case of COVID-19 on the ECC campus until this point occurred on Feb. 4, with that individual last seen on campus Feb. 3 entering the Facilities building.
All individuals who become infected are to observe the required minimum 10-day isolation at home in accordance with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
ECC also asks its students and employees to follow the directions given by public health and elected officials during this outbreak, which includes obeying the most recent orders from Los Angeles County and the State of California.
