The El Camino track and field team traveled to the University of California Irvine (UCI) for the annual Spring Break Invitational on Saturday.
Coach Dean Lofgren said the quality of competition is always assured at this meet.
“For the last 10 years, El Camino and a couple other community colleges have been invited to participate in this competitive meet which scores amongst Division-1 teams,” Lofgren said.
Freshman Justin Alexander is currently ranked number one in state after his strong performance in the men’s 400 meter hurdles placing third at UCI.
Freshman Alex Castro placed fourth in the men’s 400 meter hurdles and is currently ranked 14th in the state.
Sophomore Zaynab Bent-Mikail placed fourth in triple jump which helped propel her to the number two ranking in the state.
The men’s 4X400 meter teamed finished third overall.
Sophomore Ethan Liang finished second in the men’s 3000 meter run followed by freshman Soloman Kalehailua placing third.

The Warriors next meet is March 25 at the Santa Barbara Easter Relays in place of the cancelled Long Beach City College track meet.
