The EC track team took a trip to the UC Irvine Invitational during spring break last week looking for continued success against four year universities and they sure didn’t disappoint.
The competition was tough as track powerhouse schools such as Azusa Pacific University, NAU, UCR, Utah State, Pepperdine, and Army were all present and accounted for.
Sophomore jumper Chris Rasmussen earned himself a third-place finish in the men’s long jump and a fourth place finish in high jump. Fellow teammate sophomore William Ingram was also back in top form as he captured gold in the high jump.
Sophomore Khalil Flemister was back on track as he finishes with first-place in the men’s triple jump after his rough performance at CSUN a week earlier.
Sophomore Daniel York-Mouton follows up his first-place performance with a silver finish at Irvine in the men’s 400-meter dash.
Sophomore Hailey Heinemann also earned third in the women’s 3000-meter dash.
Both men’s and women’s 4×400 teams are still in sync as the men took second place while the women earned third.
The EC track team will take a much needed bye-week as they prepare for the Orange Coast College Classic on April 3.
