At the EC Police Department, our mission is to partner with our campus community to provide a safe and secure learning environment while respecting the rights and dignity of all individuals.
The safety and well-being of our students, faculty, staff and visitors is always our primary concern.
We have implemented new technology and campus safety upgrades, including security cameras and improved communications systems to better respond to the needs of our community. In addition, our officers and cadets patrol the campus.
The following are Campus Safety and Security Tips that I encourage you to consider:
Have keys in hand before walking to your car.
Always be aware of your surroundings-remember the use of iPod devices and cell phones may significantly distract you.
Learn the location of “Code Blue” police phones located throughout campus. These phones are directly linked to the college Police Department and are considered 911 priority lines. Students and staff are encouraged to utilize these phones for any emergency
Do not leave lap tops, cell phones or other personal property unattended
Use the EC Courtesy Shuttle operated by EC Police from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Use one of the police phones located throughout campus, or call campus police 310-660-3100 for this service.
Be alert
Be prepared
Don’t walk alone
Use the buddy system
Secure your bicycle with a sturdy lock
Even with these safety measures in place, a truly safe campus can only be achieved through the cooperation of students, faculty and staff. We have implemented a campus watch program in which meetings are held to educate and discuss safety concerns. I would encourage everyone to visit our web page, www.elcamino.edu/police to learn more about campus watch and other programs we offer.
We look forward to working with each and everyone to continue making our campus community a safe place so that your dreams do come true.
