With just two minutes remaining in the game, Warriors’ freshman forward, Kayla Sanchez created her own shot and scores to save El Camino from taking its first loss in conference play this season.
The Warriors earned a 2-2 draw against Long Beach City College last Friday.
“I feel that as a forward, I did my job right by scoring and help my team,” Sanchez said.
Sanchez gave the Warriors a 1-0 lead in the first 20 seconds of play, and was able to take the win away from the Vikings with her second goal.
“I knew that I had to work extra hard for the squad considering not everyone was there,” she said. “The final score is not what we hoped for but we never gave up and kept pushing until the last whistle was blown.”
The Vikings finished the game with 23 shot attempts on goal, while the Warriors finished with 19.
The Warriors will host L.A Harbor College Tuesday at 2 p.m.
