Dominating during the season was just the start for the Warriors.
And things in the first round were slightly more difficult, but the El Camino beach volleyball team made things look easy advancing all five of its starting five pairs to the second round of individual playoffs today.
While five other schools made an appearance at EC, the Warriors were the only team to advance all of its pairs.
El Camino’s winning match scores:
- No. 25 seed Brooklyn Rubio and Jewel Yandall win 28-26 and 21-19 over No. 8 seed of Dosch/Mukhar and will play No. 9 seed Hernandez/Pope from Bakersfield College on Friday.
- No. 19 seed Jessica Dow and Victoria Curtice beat No. 14 seed Joyner/Simental (21-13 and 21-11) and will face No. 3 seed of Aurin/Mathews from Bakersfield.
- No. 13 seed Taylor Brydon and Brooke Russell dominate No. 20 seed Gonzalez/Lacanilao 21-9 and 21-12 to advance and will play No. 4 seed Doss/Alvarez from Pierce.
- No. 7 seed Michelle Shimamoto and Nickeisha Williams win 21-11 and 21-17 against No. 26 seed Jessie/Joyner and will play No. 10 seed Hernandez/Mamath from Pierce.
- No. 1 seed Laynie Thompson and Sadie Fraker had a first-round bye and will play No. 16 seed Guarino/Volpis from Pierce.
(All El Camino pairs that played on Wednesday played against Ventura College pairs.)
