EC men’s water polo team can’t score enough in loss to Long Beach City College
The Warriors put up a great fight against Long Beach on Oct. 15 as they loss 15-10.
Their defense played extremely well in the second half as Long Beach City College only scored once.
“At the beginning of the game it was difficult,” Michael Walla said. “We were down 9-0 within the first quarter but we calmed down and played better and better every quarter.”
The defense in the first half was no where to be found making a comeback near impossible.
“We lost but we were able to shut them out the fourth quarter and only allow one goal the entire second half,” goalie Hugo Palma said. “That’s a big deal for us. Long beach City has always been a hard team for El Camino.”
The top performers of the game were David Burdiak who scored five goals and David Thomas who added three goals.
“We played pretty well against a very strong opponent,” coach Corey Stanbury said. “We had good goals and moved the ball around, I was happy with the game.”
Through winning and losing streaks this team has played well even through injuries like any sports team would have.
“This team is getting better and of course it has it’s ups and downs like any team would but we are making progress,” Stanbury said.
