NO: Are the Political parties too divided

Political parties are meant to be divided. If people all had the same opinions about politics, economy and other world issues, there wouldn’t be a need for separate political
factions.
Even in the midst of the two major parties, Democrats and Republicans, one still has a choice as to what part of the spectrum to join.
In this day and age, it’s simply not enough to label a person as a Democrat or Republican because many people today share views of both parties.
Democrats are generally more liberal and believe in a large federal government that taxes the rich more than the poor and also tend to be pro-choice and support same-sex marriage.
Republicans want the federal government to be less involved in peoples lives, but believe in a strong state government, are generally perceived to be pro-life and don’t support same-sex marriage.
However, there are areas in which both parties can agree. Both are interventionist, a political term that refers when a state takes action to control something, such as another foreign country that they believe need an intervention, regardless if they asked for help.
Also, while Republicans are known for supporting limited government, they tend to support capitalism and free market.
So while both tend to have distinct ideals, they very often dip and dabble into one another’s policies.
Some Americans believe that there is a big divide between people of different political parties. It may be that while one calls themself ‘Democrat’ or ‘Republican’ it does not make one unsympathetic or closed-minded about the other party.
This idea of cultural division among the country is in part due to some opinion polls, which are designed to categorize disagreements and tend to obscure and even distort the actual views of an individual.
While it may appear that our country is politically divided, one should remember that it is not political parties that make up the nation.
It’s easy to stereotype our political parties, but having the choice of party is what makes this nation so great.
Whether you are a democrat or republican we should appreciate living in a nation where we have the freedom to fight for our beliefs.
