A 3.4 magnitude earthquake centered two miles northeast of Carson hit at 7:01 a.m. today, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
El Camino Police Department cadets walked around campus this morning checking buildings after the temblor struck.
Police Chief Michael Trevis said in an email this morning that normal procedure involves checking buildings and elevators to make sure people are safe.
Trevis also said those in the community should read the emergency preparedness posters posted throughout campus and go to ready.gov for more information.
Twitter users reported feeling shaking in Carson, Torrance and Gardena.
