El Camino Police Department sent out a campus advisory today with the name of the student accused of making death threats directed toward a teacher, administrators, parents, and children two weeks ago.

On Sept. 30, James Lemus, 35, told a Veterans Center employee he had “been told that (he) need(s) to kill the parents of these children walking on campus,” according to a temporary restraining order (TRO) granted Oct. 3.

Lemus told the same employee that he “will kill” administrators and a teacher. He named Vice President of Academic Affairs Francisco Arce as a person he would kill, according to the TRO.

According to the campus advisory sent via email, “On 10/1/14, James Lemus (pictured) was taken into custody for making threats against El Camino College employees and students. El Camino College has obtained a restraining order against Lemus preventing him from coming within 100 yards of the campus. At this time he is still in police custody.”

A Nixle alert was also sent out around 12:45 p.m. Oct. 15 via text message to those who signed up for the system.
