Adding classes becomes more difficult

With a spring 2012 class schedule in hand, students on campus are hurrying to find classes that they can add into.

“I’m trying to pick up sociology and math 73,” David Lopez, 23, undeclared major said. “I’ve just moved from Long Beach so I’m trying to get all of my classes.”

Classes that generally fill up quickly are those that are needed to meet the general education requirements.

Claudette Parks, English instructor, was able to help students who hoped to enroll in her English 7 class.

“This semester I’ve been able to send students to another instructor who teaches English 7. Most students don’t know that English 7 is the equivalent to English 84,” Parks said. “It leaves some placements open that they can take advantage of.”

Although some students were able to find alternative classes in which to enroll it, many students weren’t as lucky and spent the first week of classes adding classes to their schedule.

“I didn’t register for Art but I tried for Anatomy and it was full,” Michelle Varner, 19, undeclared major said. “But thankfully Art 10 had an open spot for me.”
