With the recent blood drive quickly approaching, saving lives becomes one step easier with registering for appointments online said Inter-Club Council Vice President Chris Pham.
“Yes we are. We’re going green,” Pham, said. “This will keep us more organized, electronically and metaphysically.”
This year, the Inter-Club Council is trying to meet its goal of 360 units of blood to save lives.
“Last year, we almost met our goal, but we came out with about 340 units,” Pham said.
According to the American Red Cross, to be eligible to give blood, “one must be healthy, at least 17 years old or 16 years old by state law, weigh at least 110 pounds and have not donated blood in the last eight weeks (56 days) or double red cells in the last 16 weeks.”
“Tattoos have to be a year old and piercings are OK. There will be a screening process for those,” Pham said.
Pham also said that walk-ins are still welcomed however doing it electronically will be more beneficial.
“We are staffed by how many appointments we get, so I hope that we get those units,” Pham said.
Pham also emphasized that donating blood is good jester for students to take part in.
“Its great to get involved by it being the one who’s there gratifying people come out smiling for their community,” Pham said.
The days and the hours of the blood drive are Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Student Activies Center.
