College welcomes Japanese students
Seven students from Japan, along with their instructor, will demonstrate Naginata, the Japanese art of spear fighting. They will demonstrate and practice tomorrow, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in South Gym.
Career exposition to provide help
Students are encouraged to attend the career exposition sponsored by career placement services, April 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. one-hundred employers will be available to answer students’ questions regarding careers.
Biomedicine interns sought by CSUDH
Students interested in internships may visit the Mesa Center at California State University Dominguez Hills. The college is looking for minority, under-represented students for a paid internship focusing on biomedicine.
Students may visit Mesa Center Tuesday and Thursday at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information students may call Lita Malveaux at (310) 243-2242.
Student receives Pepsi Scholarship
Former EC swimmer Candice Wong won the prestigious Pepsi scholarship for outstanding athletes who excel academically.
“Each school selects one athlete who advances on to the conference level and one of these is selected to go on to scholarship,” Corey Stanbury, swim coach, said.
Interested athletes must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and show outstanding leadership as an athlete with two seasons on a California community college team.
Event invites Latino business majors
Students interested in business are invited to the “Latino Business Reception 2005,” sponsored by Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce .
The event will be April 14 at Marsee Auditorium, from 5: 30 p.m. to 7: 30 p.m.
