Cafe Camino offers closer alternative to hungry students

Fresh-tasting burgers, a vast selection of pre-packaged snacks, and healthy eating options all paired with comparable prices and superior location make Café Camino, located between the Schauerman Library and the Humanities Building, a good choice for hungry students.

The establishment, which opened last Spring, has a large variety of different foods for all times of the day.  The breakfast menu includes a plate with 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, and your choice of sausage or bacon for $4.75.  Café Camino also offers omelettes, a large breakfast burrito, and oatmeal.

The lunch menu includes several different types of hamburgers, including the “Bacon Double Cheese Burger.”  At $6.25, it includes fries and a drink.  The burger tasted like it was made on the spot, with fresh, snappy lettuce and bacon cooked just right.  The fries tasted like the bagged variety one would find at their location supermarket.

Also on the lunch menu are wraps, cold sandwiches, Teriyaki bowls, burritos, and seven different salads, ranging from the “Thai Chicken Salad” to the “Cranberry Pecan Chicken Salad.”

Bags of chips, candy, and yogurt can also be bought in the small establishment that gets too crowded for its size during lunchtime.  The line often spans the entire length of the restaurant, making it feel overcrowded and hard to navigate.  The actual eating area is outside, so if you order your food at a crowded time, there is little room to wait for your food.

When compared to it’s direct competition across the street, Café Camino is able to offer comparable prices with slightly less processed-tasting food and a much more efficient location on campus.  It’s a great alternative for those wanting to switch up their lunch routine.
