The work of highly skilled choreography students and faculty members will be featured in El Camino’s “Fall Advance Dance Concert” on Dec. 1-4 in the Campus Theatre, according to the show’s flier.
Ten dance students and eight faculty members will participate in “Elements of Process,” all directed by Liz Hoefner Adamis, Jessica Kondrath and Valerie Cabag, featuring choreography from guest artists, Suchi Branfman and Andrew Pearson, according to the show’s flier.
Adamis said the choreography and dances are based on EC Professor Darilyn Rowan’s elements of process inspired by the creation of photography.
“This semester we asked the students to look at different methods and techniques that photographers utilize when creating artistic photographs,” Adamis said. “The dances are inspired by elements of specific genres of photography.”
Some of the genres and elements of photography included in the concert are construction and creation, which are the actual process of creating and developing photography old or new, Adamis added.
Adamis said that several genres of dance will be featured including ballet, modern, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical and contemporary dance.
The concert hold four shows on the following dates:
- Thursday, Dec. 1 at 1 p.m.
- Friday, Dec. 2 at 8 p.m.
- Saturday, Dec. 3 at 8 p.m.
- Sunday, Dec. 4 at 3 p.m.
Tickets are $15 and are available online at the Center for the Arts’ website or by calling (310) 329-5345.
