A professor of Anthropology and Political Science at USC, will be traveling to El Camino on Thursday, Feb. 18 for a special National Anthropology Day lecture, according to an email from El Camino anthropology professor Blair Gibson.
The speech is titled: “What Would Margaret Mead Say…About Anthropology—and Other Things—Today?”
Nancy Lutkehaus, USC professor and author of the novel “Margaret Mead: The Making of an American Icon,” will be discussing the work of the anthropologist upon which her book is based, and the lasting relevance of Mead and her work today.
Mead is most famous for her research of various islands in the Indian Ocean, releasing major novels including “Coming of Age in Samoa” and “Sex and Temperament in Three Primitive Societies.”
The lecture will go from 12:50 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the Haag Recital Hall.
