The No. 8 seeded EC women’s basketball team lost 70-66 in overtime to No. 17 seeded Pasadena City College.
The Warriors took a 26-15 lead at the first half but could not hold off the Lancers in the second half. EC trailed 56-52 with 18 seconds remaining when sophomore forward Shontalene Trudeau’s layup cut the lead to make it 56-54. The Warriors got the ball back and Trudeau sunk a put-back shot with three seconds left to make it 56-56.
EC was outscored 14-10 in overtime and suffered back-to-back losses for the first time this season. The Warriors were out-rebounded 54-48 and lost the turnover battle 17-12.
Trudeau (West Torrance HS) led the Warriors with 18 points, 17 rebounds and six assist. Sophomore guard Nisja Bass (Mayfair HS) added 14 points, nine rebounds and four assist. The loss overshadowed Trudeau’s clutch shooting and her relentless rebounding
EC (16-6, 4-0) will look to turn things around as they host No.4 seeded East Los Angeles College (21-2, 3-1) on Friday at 7 p.m.
