Election day is over and while today is the beginning of the future of America, the nation is still divided. The country is divided into demographics; looking at which states chose George Bush or John Kerry, the division among states is evident. The division among citizens is evident in looking at the percentage of citizens who voted for Bush or Kerry, leading to another close election.
The wants and needs of America are different from state to state, which has always been the case, but there is usually something that keeps the nation together at this point of time. What it is isn’t certain. One can only wonder what it is that will bring the nation together.
It seems that people voted for Kerry just because they were against Bush or that they voted for Bush because he is firmer in his views than Kerry.
In a time of war and the threat of terrorism, people only want to feel safe and secure. The next four years will prove if the nation can rise together, because during this time frame, hopefully the war in Iraq will end and the problem with terrorism will be under control; at that point, only time can tell where the nation will be.
