Without Arielle Lombardi and Rebekah Wanic, the badminton team’s winning streak was snapped as Pasadena City whisked away, 13-8, here Friday at the North Gym.

The Warriors (8-3, 5-1) will travel to East L.A. tomorrow to play their last conference match of the season.

“It was disappointing that we lost,” coach John Britton said. “It was a close game with some close matches. With a little bit of luck, we might have won but obviously we were missing our number two and number three players. That was a big factor of the game.”

The team’s No.2 player, Lombardi missed the game because of a knee injury while No.3 player Wanic was absent from the game.

Tomoe Okaguchi, EC’s No.1 player, and No.4 player Sabine Kuenstler showed good rallies, but their contributions weren’t enough.

Okaguchi played two singles and two doubles game, with her new partner, Kuenstler, and won all the games. Kuenstler, who also played two singles, lost one game.

“I did well although I was not sure about my shape at the beginning of the game,” Okaguchi said. “I haven’t played for two weeks.”

EC faced off against L.A. City yesterday. The results were not available at press time.

The Warriors are expected to beat East L.A. tomorrow, which would give them first place in the conference.
